Summer!
Yay! Summer is here. Not that Abbie would know it - she seems to be working harder than ever. She successfully navigated AP exams and finals, but now she has rolled into more hours at work and a one-week college essay course. She regularly reports to work at 6am and is there until 1:30pm on most days. On the days when she has her college essay course from 9am to noon, she rolls into work at 6am and stays until 8:30am so that she can get to class on time. The goal of the college essay course is to have one long essay and one short essay done by the end of the week. This will go a long way towards helping with her applications this fall. She has six applications that need to be submitted before the end of November, so it is good to get a jump on it. Discontent with her job at Einstein Bros., she also applied for and obtained a job at Starbucks. I am not quite sure what the plan is. She may do both this summer, but then scale back to one or the other (or neither) this fall. She is also planning to serve as a chemistry TA this coming year so between that and classes there is already plenty to do.
Visiting the Bees! |
Lest you think she has no fun at all, she has been hitting end-of-year parties and hanging out with friends. Also, her friend Eleanor is coming for a visit this weekend, so we are looking forward to that. The diet Dr. Pepper is already in the fridge. LOL.
Finally, for a special treat tonight, a neighbor posted on the local FB page about a bee swarm that landed on her house.
She was kind enough to let us visit it and Abbie was so happy to spend some time with the bees. She tried to convince me to let her take the swarm home with her, but I didn't give in. They were definitely a sweet group of bees, though. She was able to spot the queen so presumably the swarm will find a new home soon!
