Homestretch

Skiing

It is hard to believe that Abbie is almost halfway through her time at Rice. At least from my perspective, it seems to be flying by. As you can tell, she went skiing for Spring Break. She is the one in the blue coat and Emily is the one in the white coat. Since then, she has been spending every waking minute studying for yet another biochemistry exam. She is working really hard, and it seems to be going about as well as can be expected. To offset her STEM activities (and fulfill her English major), she also has multiple English classes this semester, taught by some really excellent faculty. She enjoys those classes a lot, but the deliverables are primarily papers, which tend to suck up a lot of time to do well. She has received some really positive feedback (which I have been forbidden from posting) on her work, though, which I am sure makes it all worth it.

She is fortunate to be the recipient of a Baker Fellowship, which will fund her internship this summer. It requires an internship focused on public policy, and she has finally settled on a position with NCQA, an organization that measures healthcare quality. Having this squared away is good news, as it has taken up a significant amount of her time this spring. By the end of April, her classes will be pretty much over, and she will turn her attention to getting moved into her housing for next year before starting her internship in June. Fortunately, Alden was also able to secure a Baker Fellowship, so they can share living expenses this summer.
