Skiing

Family Photo

I think that Abbie had a good time skiing this year. She really pushed herself and made a bunch of improvement over the course of the week. I am sure that this is not her most impressive skiing, but it is a brief video that Chad took of her. You'll have to look for the blue coat, as there are a bunch of people on the slope with her.

The other fun event was a trip to the hair salon the day after we returned from Colorado. Abbie hadn't had a proper haircut in two years, having been stuck with my attempts at intermittent trims with the kitchen scissors. One of the Christmas gifts from Grandma and Grandpa P. this past year was a professional cut and color. Abbie found someone who came highly recommended and we spent the day getting some highlights and curtain bangs put into her hair. I think she is happy with how it turned out.

Looking very much like a teenager

As you can see, the highlights are subtle, but they give her hair some nice dimension.

As for other current events, Abbie has been volunteering at the Botanic Gardens most weekends. The butterfly exhibit is going on right now, so she has been working at that. It took special training and she learned a lot, which has come in handy when people ask her questions. I guess that's why they have the training - LOL.

She is also fighting a fair bit of springtime fatigue. The end of the year is approaching and I think she is more than ready to be done for a few months. Before the school year ends, though, she has a week long field trip to D.C. and a bunch of final exams to study for. She is looking forward to the trip to D.C., but not to the final exams!

As for summer, there is some fun stuff on the horizon - a trip to MN, two weeks in a French camp, and a week at the University of Chicago - but more about all of that later.
