YouTube Stardom?
Abbie is done with school for the year. We no longer have a middle schooler and now have a high schooler on our hands! She sailed through the end of the year with no problem. Having classes online means that the teachers had to make things easier, so her final exams were a lot less daunting than they have been in the past.
As for 9th grade, Abbie has her schedule set for the fall. She would desperately love to have in-person classes, but we also know that there is substantial risk associated with that option. We don't know what the school will decide for the fall, but she is trying to stay focused on the possibility that it will be online classes so that she doesn't get her hopes up and find herself disappointed. Class-wise, she has been admitted to honors French and honors math. She also decided to accelerate one of her electives so that she will have time to take additional electives in the future. That means that art history is also on tap for the fall.
Other than school, Abbie has been keeping busy with her baking. She made a sourdough starter out of all-purpose flour, but it didn't really take off the way that we would have hoped. She abandoned that option and we decided to get serious with some rye flour. That seems to have resulted in a better starter, which has resulted in better bread. Good thing because she and her friend Eleanor need content for their YouTube channel - Liz and also Liz.
As with probably everyone their age, the girls dream of going viral and making their millions. LOL. You never know what can happen, I suppose. Anyway, they have been working really hard - analyzing what the algorithm taps into when deciding which videos to feature, making thumbnails, editing to the best of their ability, etc. It has been lots of work, but they really like it, too. Here is their most recent creation (feel free to like and subscribe - LOL):
