Nineteen years old already! Monday birthdays are never ideal, so Abbie celebrated over the weekend. She flew to NYC last Thursday and spent a long weekend with Alden. I think they had fun, but also tried to cram a lot into a short period of time. They cooked a big dinner for eleven people on Friday night and then took a day trip upstate yesterday.

This is not the first time they have seen each other all summer, though. Alden took a trip out to Minnesota at the beginning of July and spent an entire week. I think she enjoyed being able to show him her favorite restaurants, etc. In just a few more weeks, they will be back together at school. Summer is winding down already!

Abbie flies back to Minnesota today and then heads straight to work in the afternoon. She is still canvassing for the environmental group, but pretty quickly dropped the Walgreens position. The store was in a sketchy part of town and was understaffed, so not ideal. With her summer course successfully behind her, I think she can work every day, which is a great way to get some exercise and make a little more spending money before the new school year.
