Welcome to Junior Year!

Today is Abbie's first day of school. She was up early, but she says that she is not excited AT ALL to go back to school. The summer slipped by too quickly, this is going to be a tough year academically, and she is really tired of her classmates.
Her schedule is heavy, and is also in flux for the first couple of weeks. AP Literature, AP U.S. History, AP Studio Art, Honors Physics, and Honors Analysis (aka Math) are all a given. The question, though, is whether is is going to choose to stick with AP French or AP Chemistry. She is wildly sick of her French teacher, but she knows that it will be an easier class. On the other hand, she loves her Chemistry teacher, but can already tell that the work is going to be difficult. Hopefully the next week or two will provide some clarity.

On the bright side, she is starting with a half-day today and only two full days left in the week. She is also in good shape with all of the work that teachers assigned over the summer, so hopefully the homework this weekend won't be too bad yet.
Abbie drove to school this morning. I was a bit hesitant because the morning traffic can be tricky. That said, she did great. We have been practicing her driving almost every day since we have been back in town and she is definitely making progress. She has taken multiple trips on the highway and it has all gone smoothly. Parking is still a bit elusive, but we are working on it. At least that is a low-speed activity! She needs to wait six months from the date of her permit before she takes her driver's test, so that puts us into November. She is pretty determined to be ready by then. Of course, next on her radar screen is getting a car, which is a whole other ball of wax!
