Homecoming

Homecoming was this past weekend and it was a wild few days leading up to it. Abbie has been busy over the past month ordering shoes and a dress. Unfortunately, the dress that she ordered was too big, and the smaller size was not able to arrive in time. Three days before the dance, we decided that she needed to go dress shopping. The catch was that (1) she had already ordered pink shoes to wear with the dress, and (2) she had already told her date that she was wearing pink, so he had already secured a pink tie to match. Fortunately, she had a half day on Wednesday, so I was able to pick her up and we ran all over town searching for a pink dress that fit her and was right for the occasion! I think we got very lucky. Then, the day before the dance, I lucked out again and found her a small pink purse that matched her shoes.

There was also drama on the date front, too. The guy that she asked initially decided that he wasn't going to the dance, so she had to find another guy in her grade to go with. She settled on Scotty (seen below) and then strong armed him into asking her. She said point-blank, "If you ask me right now, I will say 'yes'." LOL. Originally, they were only going to go to the dance, but two days before, Scotty's mom decided that they needed to also go to the grade-specific dinner before the dance and house-party after the dance, so we had to get tickets for that at the last minute.

Abbie was pretty excited the entire day. She and Chad got pedicures together and I helped her curl her hair. The dance was outside so she was the only one that committed to wearing a mask at all times. It doesn't exactly work with the outfit, but these are the things that enable her to attend, so a small price to pay, I suppose. Anyway, she had fun and is definitely glad that she went.
