Spring Break

I think that Abbie had a nice, restful Spring Break this year. We tried to come up with little activities to keep the kids entertained and provide a bit of a relief from the rut of the past year. We did things that we haven't done since pre-COVID times, I think all of which revolved around food.

 Seaweed salads and sushi

Chad took the girls out and picked up boba tea for them, we got sushi takeout, and picked up a huge apple pie from our favorite pie shop. The weather was nice so the girls were able to swim and I was able to take Abbie out driving.

She is definitely getting the hang of it, but she is also very cautious (rightly so), so I don't think we will be able to venture out onto the roads outside the neighborhood for awhile. Besides turns and getting used to smooth starts and stops, we are going to need more work on backing up - a totally disorienting activity. It all just takes time, and with the weather being nicer, we need to make it more of a priority. As always, though, the days do seems to slip by.

Driving!

As for school, Abbie is now back at it and getting antsy for the end of the year. She has put in her course requests for next year and is planning to take a half-year psychology course as an elective. It is usually for juniors and seniors so we'll see if she is able to get in, given that she will have lower priority. If she does, though, I think that she will enjoy it.

Hopefully, Abbie got plenty of rest on Spring Break because it may be her last break for awhile. Although school is winding down, her business is really taking off and she is becoming busier with packing and shipping orders. So far, she has shipped to California, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Nebraska, Texas, Kansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, and even Canada and Australia! She has been doing a nice job of marketing on FB and Insta, and it seems to be paying off with a steadily increasing number of followers. We have had to order more earring supplies, as her inventory is running low on some items. The trickiest part is to manage the supply of custom eyeshadow palettes. Those need to be ordered in minimum batches of 25, which is not cheap, and they take awhile to arrive because her manufacturer is based in China. All of this is such a great learning experience. I'll be curious to see where it goes.
