Annual Check-up
Abbie had her annual check-up a few weeks ago, so we have new stats to report! She continues to be taller than I am and is now 5'3" tall, which puts her in the 45th percentile. It is still hard for me to believe how quickly "our first baby" has become such a lovely young woman!

She continues to enjoy cooking and baking and we frequently cook dinner together these days. Abbie tends to enjoy Asian dishes and has become really good at tossing together some fried rice or a stir-fry at a moment's notice. Lately, we have discovered two new recipes that we really enjoy -- a Drunken Noodle recipe and a Thai Coconut-Lime Shrimp recipe. Tonight, however, we are going with an old classic - Abbie is making us Yakisoba!
In addition to cooking, baking, keeping up with work, school, and violin, Abbie has developed an interest in Victorian clothing styles. Yes, it must be nice to have her energy levels! Using her own money she purchased fabric and patterns for a traditional Victorian chemise, bloomers, and petticoats. She has already made the chemise and is working on the bloomers. They have been challenging projects and she has learned a ton about sewing and all the features of her sewing machine as a result of pushing herself to try new things.
As for school, so far it seems to be going well. It is hard to be online, but Abbie's first quarter report card revealed that she is doing well in all of her classes and her teachers seem impressed with her enthusiasm and her willingness to ask questions. Parent-teacher conferences are coming up this week so that will probably be a good opportunity to get more feedback and to share her thoughts about the online experience!
