First Post of the New Year!
So far 2021 has been smooth sailing. Abbie's school schedule has lightened up a bit because one of her electives was only a half-year course, so it finished up in December. This gives her more time to focus on her small business. Launch day is February 1st at which point "Luster by Liz" will be official. She will be selling earrings and eye shadow palettes at first. She is also in discussions with a lip gloss supplier, but nothing is final yet. She has worked really hard to research her suppliers to verify that her eye shadow is vegan and cruelty free and her packaging supplies are eco-friendly.

She designed her own logo and worked with a small artist that (I think) she found on Fiverr to design the cute little bee for her. The earrings are all super cute styles - daisys, peaches, honeycombs, and agate. She also designed the cover for her eye shadow palettes and customized the colors. She has been marketing on Facebook and Instagram, and this weekend, she is finalizing the website.

Other than school and her business, Abbie spent the first half of the month preparing her application for Stanford Online High School. We won't find out if she has been accepted until March, so in the meantime we have placed a deposit on her current high school, just in case (a) she isn't accepted to Stanford OHS, or (b) she is accepted, but decides not to attend. While it seems like it could be a good challenge, it also creates some difficulties if she is accepted - (1) they don't offer French, so she would need to pick that up someplace else, and (2) it would be harder to be involved in sports.
So, there is definitely lots of "wait and see" going on right now. Not to mention the "wait and see" of finding out when COVID-19 vaccines will be available for people under 18. Abbie has been desperate to participate in a trial for teens, but we haven't pulled the trigger on that at this point. We may not have much for answers on most fronts anytime soon, but at least I should be able to provide a business update next month!
