Lots of Entertainment

We have been trying to get out and do fun stuff on the weekends. There is definitely plenty to do. One day we went to the Wild Animal Park - 1800 acres of preserved land with cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos, etc. Here, Abbie is feeding a little deer-like animal in the petting zoo portion.

Another day we went to this little cove where the seals like to congregate. A baby seal had just been born two days earlier and was out in the water practicing its swimming with its mother. Pretty cute stuff.
Of course, it wouldn't be us without lots of opportunities for lots of good food. Other than eating way too many Churros, we have also been indulging in the most yummy chocolate mousse ever. Of course, if I weren't pregnant I would probably be exhibiting at least some restraint. However, as it is, there is pretty much a manana attitude towards healthy eating these days.

Aside from all these fun activities, our other source of entertainment has been all the amazing things that come out of Abbie's mouth. One day we were in the car and I was telling Chad about some of the plants in our yard. When I finished the story I heard this little voice from the backseat say, "That was stupid." To which Chad and I said, "What was stupid?" "That story." she replied. We just burst out laughing. I know that she is getting this judgmental attitude from us, and that we should try to deter her from being so judgmental, but we just can't help being entertained.

Now for the gruesome story. Abbie asked me the other day if the fish in the ocean are the same as the fish that we eat. I told her that they are. So, she asked if the fish are alive when we cut them up. I told her that, no, they are killed before they are cut up. Then she wanted to know how they are killed. Fortunately, I'm not really sure, so I wasn't able to give her all the details. Of course, this is yet another conversation that I didn't really want to find myself in. But, the best was yet to come. Shortly thereafter, when I asked her to finish the fish that we had fed her for lunch, she replied "Sure, I'll finish my DEAD fish." Yikes. Now we have to listen to her refer to all fish that we eat as "The Dead Fish." I'm sure it's not long before this line of thought starts to apply to her steak or her chicken. Lovely.
