Deal?

Here are some recent Abbie photos courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa C. who came to visit this past weekend.

Abbie tried out a new saying on me last night that I found surprising. We were talking about going up to get ready for bed and she said, "OK Mama. I'll do this (whatever it was - I can't recall) and you do that (whatever it was). Deal?" For some reason, the way she said "Deal?" was just so unexpected. I asked her who she had heard say "Deal?" before, but she wouldn't reveal it. Perhaps it is something that she picked up at school recently.

Speaking of school, Abbie has been really enjoying it now that the Fall semester has started. I think there may not have been enough structure during the summer program. In her new classroom, they are doing all sorts of fun stuff and every morning the kids get the opportunity to be assigned a "job" (lunchbox helper, line leader, door holder, etc.). Abbie really loves it.

Just to close the loop on the prior post (so that Jane won't be left hanging), it turns out that Abbie really likes her cot. That being said, there have been many days where she has not napped. However, I get the sense that the teachers are starting to crack down a bit on some of the kids. Apparently, if they aren't resting, then the teachers will take away their rest buddies (stuffed animals from home that they sleep with). Hopefully this will encourage more napping from Abbie, who really is much easier to be around when she's had a nap. :)

Also, in the monthly newsletter this month Abbie scored some fame by having the quote of the month. Apparently, Abbie's friend, Alexandra, had a playground bucket on her head and Abbie was overheard saying, "That's not safe! Your brain is too big!"
