Three going on thirteen

Happy Birthday to Abbie!

Here she is chowing down on a cupcake before school this morning (admittedly not a very good photo - sorry). We made the cupcakes last night and then she "helped" Daddy decorate them - apparently her self-assigned task was to eat all the sprinkles that she could get away with. She is bringing the cupcakes to school today to pass out to the class.

Although Abbie turns three today, we have recently been thinking that she is more like thirteen. Some real zingers have been coming out of her mouth lately. Often times in the morning I will raise the blinds in her room to encourage her to wake up for school. She usually rouses enough to exclaim, "Put the blinds down!" when I respond by lowering them slightly, she continues, "All the way!" Sounds like the exact response that I expect from a teenager.

The other day, I tried to show her something on her globe and she cut me off by starting to talk about something else. I said, "Abbie, I want to tell you something." To which she replied, "Well, I don't want to hear it." It sounds pretty obnoxious, I know, but she just delivers it in such a matter-of-fact tone that we are caught completely off guard and forced to hide our laughter. It's the brutal honesty that only a kid can get away with, I suppose.
