First 5K

As I think I mentioned in a previous post, Abbie joined the running club at school this year. They have been running on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the fall season culminated this past weekend with a 5K. Abbie and Chad both signed up to run, as did one of Abbie's friends and her mom.
Pre-race

This particular race was the Snowball Express, and apparently the weather decided that it needed to do its part to give runners the total experience because a cold front came through, and it was a painful 38 degrees at race time. Despite the conditions, the girls did great and had a lot of fun. Here is the big finish:

As you can see below, they definitely needed a few minutes to recover, but shortly after this photo they decided to get up and run another half mile. :)

Post-race

Abbie was really thrilled with the whole experience and now she wants to continue running regularly so that she can do a 5K Turkey Trot in November. She also wants to work up to a 10K in December, but we'll have to see how that goes.

Just in case there was any doubt!

After the race, we made sure to go out and celebrate and a waiter said to Abbie, "Hey, I get the weirdest feeling that you might have run a 5K this morning." Ha, ha!
