The ladies

Although I kind of look like a cow in my moo moo, here is an adorable photo of the three ladies on Sunday morning.  Abbie and I had just finished making coffee cake together and were just relaxing in our pajamas.  She has always been a homebody and really enjoyed just staying around the house this past weekend.  On both Saturday and Sunday she asked me if she could just stay in her PJs all day long.  You would think that we have her on some wild schedule or something, but life has been pretty low key for her lately.  She has only been going to school three days a week and we really haven't had much going on.

As for the newest baby, we are just waiting for her to make her arrival.  She now has her own blog, which I will try to update regularly.  It is at: http://our-2nd-baby.blogspot.com/ and can be accessed via a link on the right-hand side of Abbie's blog.  Once she is actually born we will post photos of her there, so that this blog will remain predominantly Abbie-focused.

Happy Mother's Day

We had an interesting Mother's Day yesterday.  We probably could have renamed it "Push Mommy's Buttons" Day.  Here are the two biggest gems that Abbie graced me with:

First, she told me that a Mamma is someone who wants to be alone all the time.  I guess this comes from the fact that anytime Chad tries to encourage Abbie to give me a gift it is always the gift of time to myself.  Thus, I suppose that she has concluded that I am always trying to get away from her.  On some level she is correct - I do appreciate time to myself.  However, clearly this comment threw me into all sorts of torment about how I am shaping her self-esteem, what messages I am sending her, etc.  The usual fun Mommy stuff.

Second, Abbie's big thing lately is to tell everyone that they're nuts.  Chad and I must have heard at least 50 times yesterday that we were nuts.  After about the 17th time I said, "Well, too bad that I'm nuts because I'm the only Mommy you've got, so you're just going to have to live with it."  To this she replied, "No, Daddy could marry another lady and then she would be my Mommy."  Nice.  I just very matter of factly told her that if Daddy married another lady then that lady would be her step-Mommy and that I would still be her Mommy and that she would still be stuck with me.

As you can see, she sure does give us a run for our money.  If she were 15, rather than 3, I would be less concerned.  :)

Spring Fever

The past month has flown by pretty quickly and we have been up to our usual activities - going to the zoo, going to the park, etc.  We actually recently discovered a really great park that is very close to our house and is always filled with kids and parents that are all really friendly.  It has great paths for triking, a great play structure, and really nice grassy areas.  Here are a couple of pictures from the past month:

Unfortunately, however, the past week has been a bit less fun.  Abbie was sent home from school on Wednesday with a fever and has been sick ever since.  She basically just has a fever and a sore throat, but the fever has been really high - running 103 - 104 degrees.  It has made her pretty miserable.  A trip to the doctor yesterday revealed that it is basically just a spring fever (adenovirus) that will take 5 days or so to run its course.  In the meantime, there has been lots of TV watching and sleeping on the couch.  Poor little peanut.
