Another Field Trip

Abbie's class took another field trip this week and Chad went along again. This time, however, the weather was much colder. The kids didn't mind but the parents were freezing. They went to a farm where they got to pick pumpkins, etc. but with no protection from the wind it got pretty cold.

Abbie is pretty full of personality these days (even more than usual). Last night we were in a toy store and I tried to show her a stuffed pig. She barely looked at it before she started laughing and said, "It's so cute. Where did you find it?" The funny thing about it was that you cold tell that she wasn't really paying attention at all and that she was completely trying to pacify me. Chad and I were laughing pretty hard. My first official blow off.

Then in the car on the way home, we heard the following, "When I'm a big person you won't be able to tell me what to do. You won't be able to tell me where to go, or how to get there, or anything. When I'm a big person you can't tell me what to do." She's three and already dreaming about being out from under our thumbs.

Fall activities

Abbie went on her first ever field trip a few weeks ago and Chad went as one of the chaperones. The whole class went to the apple orchard and each student was allowed to pick four apples to take home with them. In the picture below, Abbie is the fifth from the right. When they go on field trips all the students have to wear the tie-dyed shirts that they made during the first few weeks of school as a way to help the teachers keep track of everybody.

Excitement from this past weekend - we have finally converted Abbie's crib into a big girl bed. She is really excited about it. At night she likes to practice her new-found freedom by going to the bathroom at least four separate times before she actually falls asleep. However, in the mornings, the routine is still the same. She will lay there and call of us, but she won't get up on her own. This morning, I told her that she could get up on her own and that if it was too early we would just send her back to bed.

Also interesting - Abbie's conversational abilities and use of logic continue to shock us. To make conversation at dinner last night, she asked me, "Mama, why did you decide to become a Mama?" Too funny.
