Halloween!

Abigail looked forward to Halloween for a very long time (as all kids do, I suppose). She went with a zombie costume this year, and then painted her eyes black underneath the mask so that she would still look scary even with the mask off.
As usual, we went to the neighborhood block party, which we have done every year that we have lived here. It makes it very easy to get dinner and socialize while letting the kids run up and down the street.
Abigail designed and carved her own pumpkin this year. It was a lot of work for her, but I think that  she was happy to do it. As I told her, the nice thing about pumpkin carving is that it doesn't have to be perfect for it to look good.
At school, the Upper Elementary students were responsible for putting on the annual, school-wide Fall Festival this past week. Abbie was assigned to the face painting station, which I think she enjoyed. Thankfully the paint washed off very easily. I picked her up that afternoon to take her to violin practice and she was covered in tons of paint, including a thick, black fake mustache. Luckily we were able to get her washed up before her lesson because it was very distracting to look at.

Also this past week Abigail had her 9 year old well-child check at the pediatrician's office. She got a clean bill of health, and growth-wise her percentiles are consistent with prior years - 64.8 pounds (46th percentile), and 51.9 inches tall (35th percentile). Next on deck is our first parent-teacher conference, which is scheduled for next Monday. Stay tuned.
