Never Stops Moving

As has been true of Abbie since she was born, she never seems to stop moving. Picking up where we left off, we hosted a French exchange student for ten days. Oddly, we didn't manage to get much for photos, but here she is (in the green shirt) just after arriving at the airport.

She was quiet and respectful, but she didn't seem to have much interest in bonding with us. It did give Abbie a good chance to practice her French, though. It was rusty, but a lot came back to her. All in all, we were glad that we hosted, but it definitely made for a busy week or so because the school kept the students busy with all sorts of activities, many of which Abbie had to attend, as well.

In just the past two weeks, Abbie has been moving non-stop. During the week before Spring Break, she attended a concert with some friends. It was a small venue with an artist, Arlie, that she has seen as an opener before, so she was looking forward to it. It was so small that they were able to get photos with the band's lead singer.

As I'm sure you can tell, he is the one in the hat. LOL. Abbie was joined by Eleanor, and  the twins, Izzy and Ellie. Other than being struck by terrible back pain for no apparent reason, right during the middle of the show, they had a great time. Afterwards, Eleanor followed Abbie home and spent four nights with us during the first part of Spring Break week.

This also meant that Eleanor was around for a historic occasion - Abbie's first day of work. Yes, she has long had her social media jobs and still does, but she also decided to get herself a "real" part-time job.

She is now working weekends at the Einstein Bagels near our house. On her first day, they had her making the eggs and working the (not so intuitive) register. She took to it pretty well, but she came home telling us about all of the inefficiencies and things that could be set up better. I fully expect that she'll be running her own franchise by this time next year. LOL.

I didn't dare go see her on her first day for fear of embarrassing her, but Eleanor had an essay to write, so she spent some time camping out at the store with her computer and enjoying a free bagel sandwich. Lucky for me, Eleanor was able to catch couple shots of Abbie in action.

The very next day, Abbie hopped on a flight and spent the rest of the week skiing in Colorado with Chad. They went to a different location than we have been to in the past, but Abbie seemed to like it.

She arrived home last night, just in time to get up for work at 7am this morning. She is scheduled to work again tomorrow and then starts back to school on Monday, likely more exhausted than she was before the "break."

As for upcoming plans, she is being inducted into the Cum Laude Society this week. To be inducted as a Junior means that she is in the top 10% of her class, which she is happy about. She is also still working on applications for summer programs, so it remains to be seen what she will be doing this summer, but hopefully it will be something interesting. Also, upcoming is prom on April 1st. One of the guys in her grade asked her to go, so she is in the process of getting a dress, shoes, and all the usual accessories. I am sure there will be plenty of photos!
