Homecoming 2022

Sporting her Mum

This past weekend was Homecoming so there were all the usual activities - a pep rally, football game, and dance. It is standard for all of the girls to wear a mum on Friday, both to school during the day and to the game that night. It is an odd tradition from my perspective because these things are massive, but when in Rome, I suppose.

As for the dance, Abbie received an invitation from Blake, one of the guys in her Chemistry class. She was happy to be asked, as this is easier than having to ask someone and is preferable to going alone (which some of the girls did).

Abbie & Blake

We did pretty well this year in terms of finding a nice dress, shoes, jewelry, and purse. This year was also much easier in that most of the kids can drive now, so we didn't need to worry about picking Abbie up in the wee hours of the morning. We just left it to Blake to bring her home.

Group Photo

She says that she had a really nice time. As you can see a rather large group ended up getting together for photos, then went out for dinner, then to the dance, then to various after parties. Abbie said that dinner was somewhat comical because they went to a sushi restaurant, but then many of them ordered kids bento boxes with chicken tenders - LOL. The dance started out too crowded, but thinned out as time went on. Blake is on student council so they stayed for the entire dance. As for an after party, they ended up at a pretty chill house party and she enjoyed it a lot more than the crazy full-grade party that she attended last year. So glad that she had fun!
