Not throwing away her shot!

I suspect that years from now, the day of your COVID vaccination will be a story that you will recount over and over - a classic pandemic rite of passage. For Abbie, that day was yesterday. With the CDC clearing the way on Wednesday, we were quick to set up an appointment at CVS for her first Pfizer shot. The second shot, three weeks from now, will actually be on Emily's birthday. So, by mid-June, she will be fully vaccinated - just in time for our trip north!

As you can imagine, Abbie was very excited and appreciative that the vaccine is now available to her age group. You can't see her smile under the mask, of course, but it was there. She quickly shared the news with the group chat - many of whom are already 16 and are already fully vaccinated.

As for side effects, so far she has the classic, sore "COVID arm" and has been fatigued and groggy. This morning she was so groggy that she actually got up and logged into school an hour early and sat there for almost 15 minutes wondering where everybody was. LOL. She had a break this morning and was able to take a nap and have some breakfast, so she seems to be returning to full consciousness, but it was a little iffy at first.

In other news, she is more than ready to be done with the school year, but there is still over a week to go. Also, business continues to hum along - she picked up a new client that needs social media management. They signed a one-month contract, with payments occurring on a weekly basis, which gives both of them a chance to see how things work out. So far, the woman has been pretty flighty, so we'll see whether Abbie decides to continue (and whether the woman even wants to continue) once the month is done.
