School Events

Abbie has been busy with school events recently. First, she had the opportunity to be a docent at the local art museum, giving a presentation about a painting that she had researched and written a report about for English class.

She chose a painting titled, "The Butcher's Shop," which was revolutionary for its time because it was the first time that art depicted blue collar workers in a favorable light.

Second, she had a big event at school that they called, "Roman Around." It was the culmination of a joint project between her History and English classes in which they read Julius Caesar and learned about Roman times. The event allowed students and parents to roam around to various stations for presentations, etc. Abbie had two roles. The first was a presentation on Roman hairstyles. Abbie did a ton of research for the presentation and also styled her hair in an authentic Roman girl's hairstyle. Unfortunately, she was the third of three to present in her time slot and had to cut her presentation short to accommodate time overruns from the other presenters. Nonetheless, she did great:
Abbie's other role was in a reading titled, "Rinse the Blood off my Toga," which was about the murder of Julius Caesar. She had the role of the PI hired to investigate the crime. It was a cute skit with some fun jokes:
Other than these events, Abbie has been keeping busy by taking Introductory Financial Accounting at our university on Tuesday and Thursday nights. She seems to really enjoy it; not just the material, but also the interaction with the college students. Despite her age, she seems to be holding her own in the course and just scored a 97 on her midterm exam! Must be in the blood! :)
