Halloween

Abbie had a great Halloween this year. First, the costume. As I mentioned, she was Castiel from Supernatural again this year. It was easier the second time through and she had more time to plan so she shopped for and ordered a cheap trench coat rather than trying to wing it with something from Goodwill. Ditto for the wig.
The actual Castiel

She had to get up at 5:30am to get her make-up done in time for school, but that was the toughest part. Although it is hard to see in the photos, she used liquid latex to do some wrinkles around her eyes and also some five o'clock shadow. Of course, I told her that I would have been better off because I already have eye wrinkles. :)

As for the evening's activities, she went trick or treating with a group of friends in her friend's neighborhood. Apparently the girls had a really good time. They had pizza and cake beforehand and then watched a movie as they traded candy afterwards. This was her first time not doing Halloween with us in our neighborhood, which was a little weird for us, but it was good that she had fun. Meanwhile, she has sorted all of her candy into types (all the Snickers in one pile, all the KitKats in another, etc.) and her plan is to wait about a month until all of her classmates have run out of their own candy. Then, she is going to start selling her candy to them for pure profit! :)

Other events this week - we had parent-teacher conference on Wednesday and that went well. Also, Abbie had her last volleyball game of the season on Tuesday. Finally, on Saturday she participated in a local French competition with a few of her classmates. The school did pretty well and she personally did well. She came home with a number of ribbons from the various categories, which I think that she was pleased with.

This coming week Abbie has her Awesomeness Initiative class, which is on beekeeping this fall. It meets roughly every couple of weeks and Abbie is thrilled with it. They go visit the bee hives on campus and she came home with some of their honey last time. Bees are one of her recent interests and there is actually a local group of beekeepers that meets once a month, which we may need to connect with at some point!
