Spring Break!

Abbie was so happy to finally be on Spring Break (what kid, or adult for that matter, wouldn't be)! We spent the week in Keystone, which was Abbie's first experience with skiing. She took to it really well and skied all of the green trails in the resort. Here she is on Day 2, but she was way better than this by the end of the week:
Of course, in another video that Chad took, you could hear her saying, "Is this going to end up on my blog? I suppose that I'll appreciate it when I'm older, though . . ." Yup, so true!

In addition to lots of skiing, Abbie finally got a chance to go ice skating. She has really been looking forward to this. She has been rollerblading over the past few months and really wanted to try out some hockey skates. She is also interested in ice hockey (must be the Minnesotan blood), so Chad got out there and showed her a few things. It was fun to see them skate together (of course, I was too far away to get really good video/photos).

Although she was happy to finally be in hockey skates, I think that she was disappointed that the lake ice was not as smooth as she expected. :)

Other than all the physical activity, it was a pretty relaxing week with plenty of downtime for Abbie to watch TV or lounge in the hot tub. We also enjoyed lots of good food, including homemade boeuf bourguignon, and homemade bolognese. We also went out for a fancy dinner one night, and the waiter's head about fell off when Abbie told him that she would start with the octopus appetizer and then have the gnocchi for her entree. I think it was literally the first time he had ever seen a kid order octopus. :)

Tomorrow, Abbie will head back to school and the 4th quarter will be upon us. We have already planned out summer camps for June and July, so just a couple of months and there will be another break on the horizon. I'm sure that it will be much-needed, as I have a feeling that the final quarter of the school year is going to be a doozy, complete with standardized testing, a research project, and final exams, just to name a few challenges. I'll keep you posted.
