She's 11!!

Abigail turned 11 years old yesterday. As kids do, she had been looking forward to her birthday for a long time, and was almost paralyzed when trying to decide exactly how to celebrate it. Ultimately, she decided on her old standby - a day of rides at the Mall of America. Then we went out for dinner to a funky place that does yummy Korean fusion type food. The big deal for this birthday is that we have decided that we will let Abbie get her ears pierced. This is something that she has been asking about for over a year, and we have finally given her the go ahead. She is very excited.
As for the past few weeks, Abbie has been in camps, doing lots of cool YouTube videos (thanks to the training that she got in her camp earlier this summer), and lots of walking. As for camps, she was able to enroll in a babysitting training class and she is now officially certified in Red Cross babysitter training. We also did some fruit picking over the past few weeks. We sort of struck out on raspberries, but we did great with blueberries this year, snagging over five pounds really quickly one morning.

As for the status of our road trip, our leg in MN is coming to an end. Tomorrow morning we will hit the road, going through Lincoln and Denver before arriving in Moab. We will spend a night there, then head to the Grand Canyon, to Zion, to Las Vegas, and finally to San Diego, where we will spend a week. I expect that this will give Abbie lots of good footage for her YouTube videos if nothing else!
