End of an Era

Abigail 2013
Abigail 2017
When the school year officially ended, it was the end of an era. Abigail was a bit nostalgic about the end of her four years at Montessori. She tried to recreate her First Day of School photo from 2013 by wearing the same shirt and backpack. I tried to include the counter height from the original photo in the new photo to give a sense of how much she grew during those four years. The lineup isn't quite right, but I think you get the idea.

We also have the end of another era when it comes to Abbie's hair style. She has always worn her hair long, but for a very long time she has been pushing to cut it short. We finally took the plunge and her hair is now significantly shorter than it had been. I am estimating that at least 10 inches hit the floor that day. Here is the before and after on that:

We (Chad and I) were pretty nervous about it, but the new look is definitely growing on us. It is definitely a sassier, more mature Abigail.

As for the rest of the summer, there hasn't been anything too wild going on. Abigail has had a series of camps - tennis/swimming, pottery, art, 3D coding and printing, YouTubing, 3D animation, and creative writing. She has liked some more than others, but all in all, its been a pretty good mix of activities.

That is all winding down now, though, as we start preparing to leave on our giant road trip next week. I think that this weekend we will start thinking about all the things that we need to take with us. As for Abigail, however, she is now starting to think about how she wants to spend her birthday, which is less than a month away!
