Disney and more!
As you can probably imagine,we had a pretty fun-filled trip to Disney World a few weeks ago. We stayed at the Kidani Village near Animal Kingdom, so there were wild animal roaming all over the place. As for parks, we spent a day each at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Typhoon Lagoon.
It was definitely busy, but we also made sure that the girls got decent sleep each night. All of the parks were fun, but surprisingly, I think that Epcot was Abbie's favorite. We had a great lunch in France, got pearls from oysters in Japan, and spent time browsing in Morocco. I think that Abbie would have liked to have spent more time in the countries but Emily was tired that day and the sun was getting hot.
As for Magic Kingdom, she loved Peter Pan's Flight, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain. We also enjoyed dinner with the Disney princesses, which was fun for the girls, and more fun than I would have expected for the adults. Typhoon Lagoon was incredible and Abbie literally spent hours in the wave pool.
All in all, I think that Abbie enjoyed it. Of course, coming home and going back to school was a bummer. She is definitely antsy for the end of the school year, and each day is becoming more of a slog for her - boredom, etc. Part of this is potentially driven by the fact that she has officially been accepted into the private school that I mentioned a couple of months ago. She is really excited about the challenge and opportunity that will come with a bigger, more traditional, college-prep setting. This week we will go to a dinner for new middle school families, and I am curious to see the other kids that will be starting with her in the fall.
Finally, I think that Abbie had a good Easter yesterday. The hunt for eggs in the morning was fast and furious. We didn't get any photos or videos, though, because (a) both girls were moving way too fast, and (b) both girls ended up hunting in their underwear for some reason. :) Anyway, they had fun, and we are happy to have another candy-laden holiday behind us.
