Summer Camps
Abbie finished off the school year with the Maria Montessori play in which she played the young Maria Montessori. The kids whipped the performance together in just over a week (with help), and taking that into consideration, I was impressed with how well it went. Here is one of the clips from her performance:
The microphone use was a bit awkward, but at least everyone could hear what was being said. As soon as school ended, Abbie started attending summer camps. She definitely enjoyed basketball, but also really enjoyed her "Delightful Dissections" class.
It was pretty comprehensive. They dissected a banana, a starfish, a worm, a grasshopper, a cow eye, and a frog (maybe more). Every day she texted me all sorts of lovely photos. Here are the cow eye and the frog (bleh):
This past week, she was at a sleep-away camp at the University of Nevada - Reno. This is the 2nd year that she has gone to this camp. She is coming back tonight, but from what she has said, she loved it again this year. The camp includes a mix of field trips and classes. This year the field trips were to the Planetarium, Medical School, and Keck Museum. She particularly enjoyed the trip to the medical school. As for classes, they studied physics, social studies, and creative writing.
Next week, Abbie has one more week of local day camps - dance in the mornings and CSI in the afternoons - before we start our road trip to MN, NYC, and Virginia!
