Sorry, Abbie's Mom is a slacker :)
Yes, it has been absolutely FOREVER since I last posted. Probably more due to my busy work schedule than to a lack of information to report. Abbie has settled in to her new school and seems to like it. In fact, we all seem to like it. We have a parent-teacher conference next Monday, so I suspect that I will have more to report then.
She has been busy with ballet on Tuesday afternoons, violin on Wednesday afternoons, and some Friday afternoons, and now tennis will be starting on Thursday afternoons at school. Violin has been progressing well, and she has learned a new piece, which is good because practicing hundreds of Twinkle variations can get a bit tedious. One of Abbie's other after school activities has been trying to train Trixie - the old lab at the Montessori school. Abbie would like to get Trixie to sit on command, but she is quickly learning that it is pretty hard to teach an old dog new tricks. :)
Also, it seems like old news now, but Abbie had her seven year old well-child check-up on September 13th (yes, we were late this year). She is currently at 48 pounds (35th percentile), and 49 inches (64th percentile). That all sounds pretty good to me!
Probably the biggest excitement since I last posted is that the family took a trip to San Diego for a conference. On some levels it was a hectic trip, but it was also good to get back and revisit places that we used to go. We actually arranged for Abbie to spend a day at her old school, which I think she enjoyed. Then, some friends were kind enough to make dinner for us. It was fun - the kids got to play and the adults got to catch up. Amazingly, we were able to get all of them to hold still long enough for a picture.
Of course, no trip to San Diego would be complete without a trip to the beach. There were many to choose from, but we opted for the Coronado beach - great view, and beautiful white sand. What could be better? Abbie loved chasing the waves and getting all full of sand!
I love the shot with the Coronado Hotel in the background. :)
Next for excitement is Halloween. Abbie has decided on a dark countess costume - kind of the goth version of a princess. Just the right mix for a seven-year old. I need to pick up some make-up and black nail polish, but other than that, I think we are all set. Pictures will follow soon, and I promise that I won't be such a slacker this time! :)
