Always time for Dress-up

It seems that Abbie always has lots of chances to dress up, which makes for good photo opportunities. At a recent birthday party the girls all came dressed as princesses and then there were more princess dresses for them to try on and change into. Then the ladies all sat down for finger sandwiches, tea, and petits fours.
Of course the really big dress-up opportunity during January was related to the stock show and rodeo that went on for three weeks. We went twice - once to see the animals and get Abbie all squared away with her own hat and boots, and once to actually watch the rodeo (which was an interesting experience for a variety of reasons).

Getting Abbie her own hat and shoes was essential because they had Western day at school last week. The kids had to dress up like cowboys and cowgirls, and bring in an empty tin can to eat their beans and biscuits out of during their "cookout". Here is Abbie all dressed up and ready to go. Of course, she got to school and was the only one without a bandana, which was disappointing for her, but I guess now we'll know for next year.
Perhaps needless to say, Chad and I are a bit torn about indoctrinating our child into these "Texas ways". But maybe it's a good counter-balance to the princess fascination . . . .

I was going to say that it's quite a contrast-- Texas vs. Princess. But I know many of the women in Texas see themselves as princesses, so who knows!!! Great photos. Thanks for sharing.

Abbie looks so tall in the cowgirl getup, cute as a bug as always!

Yes, every time I turn around, she's grown. I feel like she's almost as tall as I am. :)
