Busy, busy, busy
It is hard for me to believe that it has been almost a month since I updated Abbie's blog. We have all been incredibly busy. There has been lots of great stuff going on at Abbie's school. Homecoming was tons of fun. The JK students got to walk behind their class banner - Class of 2024. I can't even imagine it. Also, Abbie was really excited because she ran into her reading buddy, Hannah (see below). Each JK student is paired with a 2nd grader. The 2nd graders read to the JK students each week. The plan is that by the end of the year the JKers will be reading to the 2nd graders. Hannah seemed like a really sweet girl and she was really excited to see Abbie.
For Halloween the school hosted a carnival with games, food, a haunted house, and hay rides. All the students dressed up and the parents were encouraged to dress up as well. We decided to go as a clown family. It turned out to be a hot, sunny day, so clown costumes weren't very comfortable, but Abbie looked adorable and had lots of fun. Her costume was one that Grandma P. had made 30 years ago. Paula added the different colored ribbons to it. It turned out really well.
Abbie also wore this for trick or treating on Halloween night. She got lots of candy, which we all have been eating. We were also ready with lots of candy to pass out, but no kids stopped by our house. Somehow, however, the giant 150-piece bag keeps getting smaller and smaller. Hmmmm.
This Friday there is another BBQ at Abbie's school, then next week is filled with excitement - Grandparents' Day (for which Grandma and Grandpa C. will be in town), and a Thanksgiving celebration.
When she is not in school, Abbie is just busy talking up a storm. Pretty much the rule has become - If she's awake, she's talking. Sometimes Chad and I just look at each other and are completely overwhelmed by the non-stop chatter. The nice part is that we always know what she's thinking, I suppose.
