Laverne & Shirley?

No, Alexandra and Abbie.

Thought I would post a couple of pictures of Abbie with her friend, Alexandra, who is exactly one month older than her. Ironically enough, they were born in the same town in 2006 and, since then, both families have moved to the same town many states away. It is also ironic that, although their parents look nothing alike, the girls have very similar features. Someone once asked us if they were related. Perhaps it is kismet that their paths will always cross!

Cute Stories

Just thought I would take a minute to share some cute stories:

Story 1: Abbie has been talking about Christmas for at least a month now. She is really excited about Santa and about getting a tree. Not long ago, we got the first snow of the season. It was just enough to cover the ground and it fell while Abbie was sleeping. When she woke up in the morning I told her that we needed to open the blinds because I had a surprise for her. When she saw the snow I guess she decided that it must officially be Christmas time because she started yelling out the window, "Get in here Christmas tree. C'mon Christmas tree. Where are you? Get in here Christmas tree." If only getting a tree was that easy . . .

Story 2: Abbie doesn't like those public toilets that flush automatically. I think they kind of scare her. Every time she needs to pee in public I'll take her into the restroom and she'll ask me if its the kind of toilet that flushes on its own. One day, I guess I wasn't very careful with my words and I said, "No, honey, we need to tell it to flush." When she was all done, instead of using the handle (which she has learned to do with her foot, by the way), she just looked at the toilet and said, "Flush toilet, flush."

Story 3: I often say to Abbie that she and I need to have a talk. It can either be a talk about what a special girl she is, or a talk about how she needs to stop doing whatever it is that she's doing (ex. hitting). I'll usually start with, "Abbie, we need to have a talk . . ." and I'll pull her onto my lap. Last week, she spontaneously said to me, in a very serious voice, "Mama, we need to have a talk." "OK, honey. What's going on?" I said. "Mama, you're very special" she says. "Thanks honey! You're very special, too" I said. It was pretty cute. I was pretty surprised by it all.
